ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:

This workshop focuses on textile weaving, where we will concentrate on the fundamentals of the craft and building a tapestry piece from scratch in a simple and inspiring way.The workshop begins with an introduction to the history of weaving and its visual characteristics, then moves on to the basics of choosing threads, setting up and tightening the loom, and building patterns step by step.

Each participant will learn how to:

Prepare and set up the loom for work.

Choose suitable colors and materials.

Execute basic weaving stitches and decorative stitches.

Create a small woven coaster that reflects each participant’s personal style.

Combine heritage with a contemporary personal approach.

ABOUT HEBA ELGALES:

Heba El Gales is a multidisciplinary visual artist and a graduate of the Faculty of Art Education. She works as an illustrator and moves between various artistic media such as textiles, ceramics, jewelry design, and graphic design. In her artistic practice, she explores the relationship between heritage and contemporary lived experience through experimental approaches that rely on visual sensitivity, handcrafted techniques, and the exploration of new materials.
